Past conferences

AFHVS activities include an annual three-day professional conference where members and others share recent thinking and scholarship on crucial social, ethical and technological issues in paper presentations, panel discussions, tours, and other activities organized around a salient food-related theme. The conference offers ample time for discussion, sharing, and socializing among the 300-600 attendees.

AFHVS has co-met with our sister society, the Association for the Study of Food and Society (ASFS), since 1992, with AFHVS responsible for organizing the event on odd-numbered years. In recent years, the responsibility for organizing the conference has been more fluid, rather than following a strict alternating-year approach.
