  • Navigating the AI Wild West in Food Systems, 10/17/2026 (1 hour). Presented by Caroline Brock, Associate Professor at University of Missouri and Kerri LaCharite, Associate Professor at George Mason University. This interactive session built off the food systems literature and a creative teaching workshop at the 2025 conference at the University of Oregon and discusses we are working through a spectrum of AI-resistant to AI-embracing and share some examples of how we consider that spectrum in our teaching.
  • Publishing in the Journal of Agriculture and Human Values, 4/12/24 (30 min.): In this session, Matt Sanderson, Editor of the Journal, Agriculture and Human Values, discusses the journal’s submission and publication process. Topics included types of submissions, the review process, as well as common errors and how to avoid them. 
  • USDA-NIFA Postdoctoral and Predoctoral Fellowships: A Social Science Perspective, 3/29/24 (1 hour). Panelists shared about how they conceived their proposal idea, strategies they employed during their proposal development, and reflections on their project experience.   • Opportunities for Social Science Funding at USDA NIFA, 9/29/23 (1 hour). Document links available here. Topics included the divisional structure of NIFA and where social science programs are housed; an overview of specific programs and funding opportunities with a social science or interdisciplinary focus; how and why to be a grant proposal reviewer; special opportunities for students and early career professionals; and tips for successful grant writing.
