Qualifications:
Required:
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. agriculture, forestry, ecology, environmental science, or other related field).
- 1-3 years of experience in laboratory and fieldwork in the environmental, biological, chemical sciences, or other related discipline.
- Experience working collaboratively and independently.
- Expert-level command of word processing and spreadsheets.
- Ability to quickly learn new lab and field techniques, both with guidance and in a self-taught capacity.
- Ability to travel (within the State of Maine/both within and outside the State of Maine, etc.), which requires a valid driver's and eligibilty to be authorized and approved as a university driver based on the Driver Administration Policy. Mileage is reimbursed at the current University rate.
- Have a mode of reliable transportation for travel between campus and nearby research sites at the Wyman’s Center and Rogers Farm.
Preferred:
- A master's or doctoral degree in a related field (e.g. agriculture, forestry, ecology, environmental science, or other related field).
- Experience in agriculture and/or agriculture research with knowledge of irrigation systems, field preparation, and crop maintenance.
- Experience in scientific data management.
- Experience with scientific computing using R and/or Python.
- Grant writing experience.
- Science communication experience, including outreach to non-scientific audiences.
