    POSITION DETAILS
    The Nutritional Sciences Program within the School of Public Health (SPH) at the University of Washington invites applications for one full-time position at the rank of lecturer or senior lecturer (non-tenure track, 12-month renewable appointment) with an anticipated start date of March 1, 2018. The successful applicant will be appointed to the faculty in the School of Public Health, Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences.
    Candidates should bring teaching expertise that would meet the needs of both undergraduate and graduate curriculum in the areas of food systems, nutrition, and population health with a special focus in one or more of the following areas: social justice, environmental health, occupational health, culture, human and agriculture sustainability, economics, community food security, and policy. Candidates should demonstrate a record of interdisciplinary teaching and scholarly activity as well as a commitment to educational innovation and leadership, including experience with active learning methodologies and successful collaboration with academic and community partners within and outside of the university.
    The position will have responsibility for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, mentoring students, and active participation in service to the Program, appointing Department, and community.
    Specific duties may include:
    • Teach undergraduates at both introductory and advanced levels.
    • Teach undergraduate capstone. Capstone is a culminating experience during which students synthesize their course work and ready themselves for transition into the workforce.
    • Collaborate on development of experiential learning opportunities for students.
    • Participate in curriculum planning and development.
    • Lead development of new undergraduate courses.
    The UW Nutritional Sciences Program (http://depts.washington.edu/nutr/) is an interdisciplinary academic program and includes MPH, MS, and PhD degree programs, a Coordinated Graduate Training Program in Dietetics, and an Undergraduate Minor. An Undergraduate Major in Food Systems, Nutrition & Health is in development. As an interdisciplinary program within the UW School of Public Health, the Program offers broad opportunities for collaboration, including the School’s five departments and Public Health Major, other UW schools and colleges, UW Housing & Food Services, and other campus and community partners.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    • Degree in nutrition, food systems, or related field. A Master’s Degree is a minimum requirement.
    • Evidence of teaching competency at the undergraduate and graduate levels including major responsibility as the lead instructor for courses.
    • Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential is preferred.
